Stratford stages a decent jumps card on Tuesday evening, with the penultimate novices’ chase arguably the highlight.
Earlier on the card John Ferguson and Denis O’Regan team up with a couple of interesting novice hurdlers in the two divisions of the 2m maiden hurdle.
Firstly Allowed is surely capable of more now he encounters quicker ground for the first time in the opener, but even more interesting is smart Flat performer Ittirad (6:10) who is fancied to make a winning hurdling debut in division two.
Off the track since last August, the five-year-old finished runner-up in an Ascot handicap off 90 that day, having earlier chased home the smart Biographer at Ffos Las (beaten just a short head when trying to concede 10lbs to the winner).
A Newcastle maiden winner back in April 2011, he looks just the type that John Ferguson excels with and it is nice to see an ex-Flat horse arrive over jumps whilst still appealing to be at the top of his game (albeit when last seen).
