Fergie’s Sunday racing tips

Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Sunday; Grandads Horse in the Southwell 1.30 & Kian’s Delight in the 2.30 Perth. Compare odds and bet.

Jumps action takes centre stage on Sunday and the day’s two selections are promising novice chasers, who both need to leave slightly disappointing runs behind.

Up at Perth Kian’s Delight (2:30) is taken to bounce back in Royal Caledonian Hunt Novices’ Chase, following his third at Newton Abbot last month.  Peter Bowen’s five-year-old had earlier looked smart when winning at Fakenham on his debut over fences and he was a handicap hurdle winner at this track last August.  He looked as though he’d appreciate this extra ½ mile last time.

50 minutes earlier Grandads Horse (1:40) is also taken to regain the winning thread in the opening Wow-24-7 Novices’ Chase at Southwell, for Charlie Longsdon and Noel Fehily.

The seven-year-old also looked a really smart recruit when making a winning debut over fences, before jumping much less fluently last time.  He still got to within 2½ lengths of a fair sort (had beat him on debut) and time may tell that to be a reasonable effort.

The step up to 3m should help him to get back into a rhythm over his obstacles, which aren’t too harsh around here, and, with the ground in his favour, the son of Bollin Eric can defy his 7lb penalty.

Sunday’s selections:

1:40 Southwell           Grandads Horse (10/11 Bet365)

2:30 Perth                  Kian’s Delight (11/8 BetVictor)
