Lancaster 3/1 to lead Lions next

Stuart Lancaster is the early favourite at 3/1 with Ladbrokes to be in charge of the Lions for their next tour, in New Zealand, in 2017.

The British and Irish Lions sealed a memorable series victory over Australia with a 41-16 triumph against the Wallabies in Sydney and in four years time they will bid for another success against southern hemisphere opposition, in the shape of the All Blacks.

The England coach is 3/1 to lead the tourists in that one while Warren Gatland is a 6/1 chance at Ladbrokes to still hold the post and Rob Howley is 4/1.

However, a win for the Lions in 2017 is considered unlikely, Ladbrokes pricing the hosts as 2/7 favourites and making the Lions 5/2 outsiders.

Elsewhere, Ladbrokes post 1/5 against the Lions being named ‘team of the year’ at the Sports Personality of the Year Awards and they also go 6/1 about Alun Wyn-Jones captaining the side in New Zealand.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told Betrescue: “When it mattered most the Lions delivered and both the bookies and punters couldn’t be more delighted. Since Gatland dropped O’Driscoll all the money was for Australia so we’ve double cause for celebration.”
