Blues 18/5 to win Villa thriller

Live on Sky Sports 1: Sat 17.30: Chelsea to win and concede (5/2, bet365) at Villa is one of our four Premier League picks.

Liverpool’s last six visits to Manchester United in all competitions have ended in defeat but Old Trafford has been far less of a fortress for the champions this term and with David Moyes’s men a full eleven points adrift of the Reds in sixth, Brendan Rodgers’s troops will have few better chances to head back down the East Lancs Road with a maximum haul.

United however, are Stan James’s 6/4 favourites for the points while Liverpool are BetVictor’s 2/1 outsiders and it’s 5/2 at Ladbrokes for the spoils to be shared, a wager that always tends to be popular when heavyweights collide.

Nevertheless, this fixture is historically conclusive, the pair having been inseparable just once in 20 meetings at either team’s stadium and although the Reds are likely to attract cash at 11/10 in Paddy Power’s ‘Draw No Bet’ market, their form is strong enough to warrant backing them to prevail.

Bet365 chalk Rodgers’s side up at 10/3 to triumph by a one-goal margin, they’re 15/4 courtesy of BetVictor to be in front at the end of each half, as they were when the Reds edged the duo’s Anfield scrap in September 1-0, a result that’s 11/1 via Winner.com to repeated here.

Daniel Sturridge meanwhlie took just four minutes to break the deadlock in that reverse fixture and with a dozen goals in as many games for club and country he stands out at 11/2 (Stan James) to break the deadlock.

Tottenham have fallen off the pace in the race for fourth and realistically only a victory as they take on Arsenal at White Hart Lane will keep their faint hopes alive. Tim Sherwood’s charges are 2/1 at BetVictor to get the better of their North London neighbours, Skybet’s 6/4 favourites, but there’s every chance punters will plump for an entertaining draw at 12/5 (Stan James).

Both teams need to go for it, meaning a match tally of three or more goals looks a banker at 19/20 via bet365 and with that in mind, a speculative flutter on a 2-2 scoreline at 14/1 with William Hill isn’t without appeal.

They’ve played more games but Chelsea’s seven-point lead at the table’s summit still puts pressure on the teams below them and the Blues can tighten their grip on the title by seeing off Aston Villa. BetVictor price Jose Mourinho’s team at 8/15 to acquire all three points at Villa Park, where they’re 5/2 via bet365 to win in a match where both teams find the net.

At Goodison Park, Ladbrokes’s 4/11 chances Everton are 21/20 with betway to defeat Cardiff ‘to nil’, Southampton (4/7, Stan James) should also register a home victory as they host Norwich and William Hill go 23/20 about Sunderland sending Crystal Palace home empty-handed.

Newcastle finally, get the nod at 6/4 via Paddy Power, ahead of the visit to rock-bottom Fulham, Stoke’s home battle with West Ham is 9/4 courtesy of Skybet to be inconclusive and odds of 5/2 are available at bet365 for Swansea to share the spoils with West Brom.

Recommended Bets:
Liverpool to beat Man Utd – 2/1 (BetVictor)
Swansea v West Brom draw – 5/2 (bet365)
Chelsea to win and both teams to score – 5/2 (bet365)
Everton, Southampton and Sunderland treble – 18/5 (Coral)
