City set for 3-0 success at 12/1

Live on Sky Sports 1: Sat 17.30: We have five Premier League picks this week including a tempting 12/1 (BetVictor) correct score wager.

When Chelsea entertained Arsenal at Stamford Bridge last season, they mauled the Gunners 6-0 and such has been the strength of the Blues’ start to the current campaign that if they were to repeat the feat this weekend, an outcome Paddy Power price at 200/1, their title odds would be so skinny as to be scarcely worth backing.

Fortunately, for Arsene Wenger’s troops that kind of scoreline is unlikely in this derby renewal but the hosts nevertheless look set to pouch the three points and bookies agree, Ladbrokes installing them as odds-on favourites at 7/10 and BetVictor rating the visitors at 9/2.

Jose Mourinho’s charges have won all but one of their fixtures so far and they’re 11/4 at Skybet to account for Arsenal’s unbeaten record by a one-goal margin. More accurately, bet365 go 8/1 about a 2-1 Blues triumph and William Hill quote the home side at 6/4 to be in possession of a lead at the end of each half.

However, the wisest move in West London could be to focus on Chelsea front Diego Costa. The Spaniard has notched in five of Chelsea’s half-dozen top-flight outings, racking up eight goals in total and he’s hard to resist at 10/3 (Winner.com) to break the deadlock against the Gunners. The in-form Blues front man is also 4/5 at BetVictor to find the net at any stage.

Manchester City are five points off the pace but that shouldn’t increase as Manuel Pellegrini’s team go to Aston Villa. City are 8/15 jollies at Stan James and as Paul Lambert’s men have been heavily beaten in their last couple, albeit against Chelsea and Arsenal, they shouldn’t trouble the champions at Villa Park.

It’s 8/5 at betway for the visitors to triumph ‘to nil’, just like Villa’s last couple of opponents and another 3-0 reverse for the hosts is a 12/1 shot with BetVictor.

Phil Jagielka’s injury-time screamer earned Everton a point in last weekend’s Merseyside derby but it was an otherwise lacklustre performance from the Toffees, who are 8/11 via Stan James to slump to a defeat at Manchester United. Louis van Gaal’s side however, haven’t convinced themselves this term and William Hill’s draw quote at 3/1 is arguably the best bet at Old Trafford.

Second-placed Southampton come face-to-face with former boss Mauricio Pochettino as they visit Tottenham and bet365 make them 12/5 to show their old manager what he’s missing at White Hart Lane. Stan James mark 11/10 against a Spurs success but it’s the same firm’s 5/2 about an inconclusive affair that catches the eye in North London.

Frustrated by their neighbours at Anfield last time out, Liverpool are just 2/5 (Stan James) to bounce back as they meet West Brom while home wins for Swansea (17/20, bet365) and Leicester (4/5, Skybet), against Newcastle and Burnley respectively, are also on the cards.

Elsewhere, William Hill chalk West Ham up at 19/20 to get one over on former boss Harry Redknapp’s QPR, BetVictor quote Crystal Palace at 12/5 to bag a point at Hull and Stoke are the tentative selection at 85/40 courtesy of the same bookie ahead of their trip to Wearside to take on Sunderland.

Recommended Bets:
Man City to beat Aston Villa 3-0 – 12/1 (BetVictor)
Diego Costa to score first – 10/3 (Winner.com)
Man Utd v Everton score draw – 4/1 (BetVictor)
Liverpool, Leicester and Swansea treble – 18/5 (Betfred)
Tottenham v Southampton draw – 5/2 (Stan James)
