Back Chieftain’s Choice @ 8/11

Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Tuesday; Chieftain’s Choice in the Catterick 13:40. Compare odds and bet.

If the handicapper is correct Jacks Last Hope will be difficult to beat in the 2m3f novices’ hurdle at Catterick this afternoon.

Chris Grant’s recent Sedgefield winner is rated 130 and is un-penalised for that success (being a conditional jockeys’ race), having earlier shaped well when runner-up at Aintree.

If the official ratings are to be believed, Chieftain’s Choice (1:40) will struggle to concede 7lbs to Jacks Last Hope as the assessor has handed him an opening mark of 127, but there is plenty more to come and there was a lot to like about the way he won at Hexham last time.

Admittedly, his main market rival fell that day, but he sauntered home under James Reveley, having earlier bumped into the smart The Grey Taylor (won since and the fourth home has won twice since) at Wetherby when a shade keen.

Tony McCoy is back in the saddle this afternoon and he will need to settle the King’s Theatre gelding over this trip, but he might have too much pace for Jacks Last Hope at the business end of the contest, assuming he relaxes early on.

Tuesday’s selection:
1:40 Catterick: Chieftain’s Choice; 8/11 Skybet
