Double worth a dabble at 9/2

Sat 15.00 & Live on Sky Sports 3, Sun 12.00: Peter Sharkey has three Scottish Premiership picks including a 9/2 double (BetVictor).

The weekend’s most compelling fixture pits Aberdeen against Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday in a match that could either open up the title chase or effectively confirm the Hoops as champions yet again.

Celtic have twice beaten the Dons this term and as they did so in three of the pair’s four league contests last season, their 8/13 starting price (Stan James) appears completely justified. It’s worth noting that only once in their previous eighteen duels have the honours been shared and BetVictor’s 3/1, posted about the draw, reflects this. Can Aberdeen prolong their Premiership challenge? Bet365 prices them at a generous 5/1 to overhaul the reigning champions, while Skybet offer 16/1 against them winning 2-1.

Third-placed Inverness (4/5, Betway) should have little difficulty coping with Motherwell’s threat at Fir Park, particularly as the home side, priced at 15/4 by Winner.com, has lost seven of their last eight league matches.

Home advantage ensures that St Johnstone kick off as Ladbrokes’ 5/6 favourites to register three points when they host Kilmarnock. The visitors open as William Hill’s 3/1 underdogs, not least because they’ve registered just three victories away from home this term – though one of those was at McDiarmid Park.

As no Premiership team has won more home matches than Dundee United, they’re accurately priced (8/11, Skybet) to inflict an eighth away defeat of the campaign on Partick (4/1, Paddy Power), although matters appear less clear-cut at Victoria Park where Dundee, despite being the visitors, are installed as bet365’s 13/8 favourites. Following back-to-back victories, however, at 2/1 (BetVictor.com) Ross County look a little frothy, which suggests that punters keen to add some insurance to their wager may fancy a nibble at Betway’s 13/2 marked against it finishing one apiece.

Hamilton’s impressive start to the season seems like a distant memory now that they’ve lost six and drawn two of their last eight league matches. Could this, then, be the weekend that St Mirren, who host Hamilton at Love Street, finally record a home win? They’re 15/8 with Winner.com to emerge victorious and 13/2 at Ladbrokes to register a 1-0 win.

Recommended Bets:
Celtic, Dundee United and Inverness treble – 4/1 (Coral)
Ross County and St Johnstone double – 9/2 (BetVictor)
St Mirren to beat Hamilton – 15/8 (Winner.com)
