£25 double returns £145

Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Thursday; The Grey Taylor in the Carlisle 2.50 and Weyburn in the Southwell 4.35. Compare odds and bet.

There are plenty of interesting runners across the three jumps fixtures this afternoon, with Red Hammer being just one in the opening juvenile hurdle at Ludlow.

Nicky Henderson’s newcomer is one to watch with the future in mind, while the concluding bumper from Southwell promises to throw up plenty of future winners.

Bilzic hails from a yard in form and has a fairly strong piece of form to his name; he is greatly respected, but WEYBURN (4:35) caught the eye when finishing third in the four-year-old bumper at the Punchestown Festival and can make a winning start for Martin Keighley.

Snapped up for €80,000 on the back of his encouraging third, the grey looks a potentially exciting acquisition and should go well.

Likewise, the bumper up at Carlisle looks potentially informative with the well-regarded Monbeg Charmer debuting for Charlie Longsdon, but he faces a rival with proven form in the shape of Gully’s Edge. Malcolm Jefferson’s runner sets a fair standard.

Earlier on the card THE GREY TAYLOR (2:50) can get off the mark at the second time of asking over fences.

Brian Ellison’s six-year-old finished fourth at Wetherby just eight days ago, but he went well for a long way and the drop in trip should be ideal.

The son of Royal Anthem ought to be difficult to beat if reproducing that effort, with the quick reappearance being the only concern.

Thursday’s selections:
2:50 Carlisle – The Grey Taylor; 4/6 bet365
4:35 Southwell – Weyburn ; 5/2 bet365
