He may not be totally straightforward but DESHAN (8:50) definitely possesses a degree of ability, and can land the bumper at Stratford on Tuesday.
Tim Vaughan’s five-year-old chucked away a bumper at Worcester on his racecourse debut last May, swerving violently in the closing stages. He had gone through that race like a useful prospect and would have run out a comfortable winner.
He returned to action a year later and, whilst again not looking the easiest ride, he showed promise in third at Southwell. The ground eased that evening and he ought to appreciate tonight’s sounder surface.
The selection sets the standard, though well-bred newcomer Sam Noir is respected and is one to note in the market.
