The Old Firm takes centre stage with Rangers hosting Celtic at Ibrox. The Gers were embarrassed in a both meetings last season, losing both fixtures 5-1 and the gulf in class between both sides highlights at both Glasgow grounds. It will be fascinating to see how Brendan Rodgers’ side for this afternoon’s trip with Celtic needing to do little to beat Dundee 4-0 in the League Cup midweek however, prior to that battered 5-0 by PSG in the Champions League.

There is quite the different between Paris and Dundee mind you and likewise between Celtic and Rangers with The Hoops still the side to beat in the top-flight and 7/10 with BetVictor to leave Ibrox with all three points; the hosts 16/5 and the draw 3s.

Aberdeen 10/11

Rangers 5/4

Hibernian 14/1

Credit where it’s due to Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha, who has unified the club and made giant strides since replacing Mark Warburton at the Ibrox helm. Nevertheless, Rangers remain in the shadow of their Old Firm rivals and are 20/1 outsiders to end a seven-year wait to be crowned Champions and 5/4 to chase home Celtic at the top of the table.

Rangers were thumped in the corresponding fixture 12 months ago but prior to that were unbeaten against the Hoops in their last four on home soil and I’ve a sneaking suspicion that Rangers will earn at least a share of the spoils and think the hosts are a fair price at both 21/20 in the double chance market and 23/10 with BetVictor in the Draw No Bet.

Should the hosts get a result against the Hoops then they will need leading goalscorer Alfredo Morelos to continue his fine run of form in front of goal. The Colombian striker has been a revelation since moving to Ibrox and has scored 8 goals in his last 7 games in all competitions for the club and has been cut to 5/1 from 12s to be the league’s leading marksman this season. BetVictor make him the Morelos is 13/2 with BetVictor to break the deadlock at Ibrox and 17/10 to net anytime against the Hoops.

The promotion picture in the Championship has been blown wide open with Dunfermline leap-frogging St Mirren after a 3-0 defeat of the latter on Saturday, and cut to 5/1 from 8s with BetVictor for the Championship Title. Goals from Declan McManus, David Hopkirk and Callum Morris saw The Pars claim all three points at East End Park, to formally enter the promotion picture alongside the pair of St Mirren and Dundee United, as the promotion picture grows ever murkier.

The latter remain the 5/4 favourites to go up as Champions in May despite a recent wobble and disappointed in Saturday’s goalless draw at Falkirk. The Terrors failed to muster a solitary shot on target at Falkirk Stadium, missing the chance to move up to second in the table, and are now winless in their last three league games.

BetVictor remain adamant Roy McKinnon’s side are worthy favourites for the Title; deliberately going bottom price about The Arabs at 5/4 but as big as 7/4 elsewhere in places. They should bounce back at this afternoon and look a good price at 8/13 with BetVictor when hosting Morton at Tannadice; The Ton 5/1 and the draw 13/5.

Meanwhile, St Mirren have a terrific opportunity to immediately bounce back when hosting Queen of the South at the Paisley 2021 Stadium. The Buddies are clearly the second best side in the league and are best ignored based on last week’s efforts.

Jack Ross’ side were never at the races, and the afternoon was summed-up by the two late red-cards received by Adam Eckersley and Gregor Buchanan as tempers flared late on. Level heads should prevail on home soil, and St Mirren look a fair price at 9/5 with BetVictor in the double-result market.
