Fifth in a decent bumper at Chepstow on debut SUNSET SHOWDOWN (12:50) can win division one of the maiden hurdle at Hereford today.
Rebecca Curtis’ five-year-old shaped well for a long way – faded late on – and the winner and fourth have both been winners for this column since.
The selection had earlier won his sole Irish Point-to-Point (3rd won a novice hurdle for Alan King) and he shouldn’t mind the likely soft ground. With plenty of stamina in his pedigree, the step up in trip shouldn’t be a problem.
He faces a rival with some decent form in the book, in the shape of Rock My Style, but the opening 9/4 seems fair enough.
