AMAZING RED (2.25) can put a poor run on the all-weather behind him by landing the JLT Cup at Newbury for Ed Dunlop.
The five-year-old flopped in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle, looking a pale shadow of the horse that landed a warm 1m 6f handicap at Newmarket on his previous outing, but this return to turf can do the trick.
Almoghared’s fourth to Kew Gardens in the Queen’s Vase is top form, especially as it was only the third career start for John Gosden’s three-year-old. Of the older brigade, Sir Chauvelin is out to emulate stablemate Euchen Glen and bag another lucrative Saturday handicap for Jim Goldie’s Scottish yard. A third to Cesarewitch winner Withhold in the Pitmen’s Derby reads well.
EMOTIONLESS (1.50) is mostly campaigned in Dubai these days but he can make a rare UK appearance pay off in the bet365 Stakes, a Listed contest over 1m 2f. Charlie Appleby’s gelding was last seen chasing home useful Benbatl at Meydan in the winter.
PROJECTION (3.00) ran fifth to Merchant Navy in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, backing up two previous placed efforts behind The Tin Man at Windsor and Brando at HQ. This may prove a slightly easier assignment.
The Weatherbys Sprint is quite a sight with 27 two-year-olds charging down the 5f course and LITTLE KIM (3.35) has no easy task conceding weight all round. However, Karl Burke’s filly won a Group 3 in Deauville following a respectable eighth to Signora Cabello in the Queen Mark Stakes at the royal fixture.
At Newmarket, HIGHGARDEN (2.45) will appreciate the drop in trip after her respectable sixth to Magic Wand in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot. The Gosden filly cut out much of the running until fading up the straight.
