Although Al Riffa is respected on the back of an easy success over course-and-distance, ILLINOIS (4:25) is taken to win Sunday’s Irish St. Leger. A winner at Chester on return (re-opposing runner-up won his next two), he then finished runner-up in both the Ascot Gold Cup and the Goodwood Cup, and shouldn’t mind the slightly shorter trip.
