Progressive novice MIGHTY BANDIT (1:55) was impressive over course-and-distance last time, despite a late error, and can defy an 8lb rise in a competitive looking handicap chase at Doncaster.
Up at Kelso, STARMOUNT (2:15) is fancied to land the Grade 2 Premier Novices’ Hurdle. Fourth in the Formby at Aintree, he twice impressed winning on soft ground at Wetherby and the longer trip should be within range. In the same race, don’t be surprised to see a return to form from The Blue Room at bigger odds.
The Morebattle looks typically competitive, but HAMLET’S NIGHT (2:55), very well backed during the week, is worthy of each-way support. The drier the ground the better his chance, with his early season form reading well, particularly his second to Rubaud. He warmed up for this with a win on the Flat at Kempton last week.
