Each month we will be picking out two of the biggest football matches of the month and asking our celebrity writers Alan Brazil and Stuart McCall to predict the match results, correct scores, half-time/full-time and the number of goals.

Betting Monthly readers and betrescue visitors have the chance to pit their wits against our former Scotland internationals and submit their selections to us.

Participants are given a mythical £10 bet on each market with points awarded based upon the odds of any winning selections.

If the contestant with the most points betters Alan and Stuart's scores, they will win a replica football shirt of their choice from any team in the English or Scottish Leagues, or a free £50 bet with Blue Square.

Liverpool's win over Manchester United caught a few punters out but not John Turley, who remarkably managed to record the best readers score again. John bettered the 43 points gleaned by Stuart McCall and also the 86-point haul accrued by Alan Brazil, getting most outcomes correct to rack up an impressive 219 points. This month's matches take place on the the 21st October at Old Trafford where Manchester United face Celtic in a Champions League Battle of Britain. The same night sees Arsenal travel to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce. Entries should be received no later than 5pm on October 20th.
