Each month we will be picking out two of the biggest football matches of the month and asking our celebrity writers Alan Brazil and Stuart McCall to predict the match results, correct scores, half-time/full-time and the number of goals.

Betting Monthly readers and betrescue visitors have the chance to pit their wits against our former Scotland internationals and submit their selections to us.

Participants are given a mythical £10 bet on each market with points awarded based upon the odds of any winning selections.

If the contestant with the most points betters Alan and Stuart's scores, they will win a replica football shirt of their choice from any team in the English or Scottish Leagues, or a free £50 bet with Blue Square.



It was the scorelines rather than the actual results that the majority of entrants failed to call last month as Chelsea scored the only goal against Manchester United and Liverpool drew two apiece with Manchester City. Michael Collins however, correctly predicted both scores and in fact, of the eight outcomes, the Northumberland punter was spot on in seven cases, scooping a mythical return of £301.42.

Our pundits found life a little tougher and indeed neither managed to get anything right apart from the number of goals, Alan Brazil earning £10 for going low in the game at Stamford Bridge and Stuart McCall edging him out with a tally of £19.09, by also tipping the clash at Anfield to produce more than 2.5 goals.
