Australia recorded a fairly routine victory in the end, in the First Test against Pakistan at Lords but the latter’s batsmen should make it a touch more competitive as the pair lock horns in the Second Test at Headingley. Nevertheless, it’s the Aussies that are odds-on at 4/5 with Bet365 to clinch the series 2-0 while Pakistan are 13/2 (Stan James) to level matters.
Given the weather forecast in Yorkshire, the best bet would appear to be Totesport’s 2/1 for the match to end in stalemate while Umar Akmal looks overpriced at 9/2 (Victor Chandler) to top score for Pakistan and Michael Clarke is quote by Ladbrokes at 5/1 to do likewise for the Baggy Greens.
Pakistan will be keen to avoid a 14th consecutive test loss to Australia whilst the Aussies see this as perfect warm-up material for The Ashes, making it an all together tough tie to call. Aamer, Asif and Gul are critical for Pakistan with the ball and the batting order did look like firing at times in the 1st test but Pakistan will have to really step up if they are to avoid yet another defeat to Australia.
