WIGAN WIN WELL AND LOOK TO OLD TRAFFORD |
 | RUGBY LEAGUE BETTING: The Playoffs are creeping ever closer and Wigan look good to head into them as top seed. Leeds need to pull their finger out to break the top 4, however.

With 6 rounds remaining and a 4 point lead, it would seem Wigan are really closing in on the regular season title for the first time since 2000. Indeed the bookies are alomost resigned to that fate, Betdaq offering the best price at 3/20 for Wigan to lift the regular season gong. Wigan dismantled Salford 60-10 on Friday evening which will go a long way to keep up confidence ahead of the all important playoffs, of which they are 13/8 fav with Skybet to win. Until recently, Wigan, Leeds, Warrington and St Helens were all jockeying for favouratism but now it seems firms are happy to make Wigan top dog.
Of the chasers, Leeds are deemed 10/3 by Stan James, despite still sitting 5th in the league. Leeds suffered a slightly surprising defeat away at Hull KR but can be grateful Hull lost away as well, just 1 point above Leeds in the league. Leeds will need to keep an eye on their position though, 4th or 5th will put them directly in line to meet leaders Wigan before the final, they will surely be pushing hard for 3rd. Hull, in 4th, have a 33/1 tag courtesy of William Hill but are just about guaranteed to make the palyoffs.
Warrington are 3/1 at Betdaq for the Grand Final win but, again, some consideration must be given to who they might face come playoffs time. They racked up a good win over Castleford at the weekend to further entrench themselves in the top 2 and will now try their hardest to chase down Wigan at the top.
Of the group of 4 that lead the markets, St Helens are in the most precarious position in terms of form. 2 losses on the bounce and some awful injury problems do not bode well for the all important run in and 7/2 at Skybet for the Grand Final win is looking tenuous. Obviously the playoffs are guaranteed so perhaps it's a case of rest up and rest easy and assault the playoffs with every last reserve. Backing against St Helens for the next few matches might be quite profitable.
