A buoyant Pakistan team continue their summer in England with a 4-test series against the Three Lions. Pakistan come off the back of a 1-1 drawn series with Australia and are interestingly 9/2 with Bet365 to take this series. When you consider the fact they dismissed the Aussies for 88 and they are full of youthful attacking intent, that price is favourable.

During the 2-test Australia series, Pakistan unleashed Mohammad Aamer. Well, not unleashed in the sense that he has already played 10 tests and 15 ODI's, but in the sense that he roared at the Aussies and tore into them, all at the tender age of 18. The young pace-man, backed up by Asif and Gul, means Pakistan have a formidable bowling trio that can cause the English problems. Aamer is 5/2 with William Hill to be top Pakistani wicket taker and is worth backing after impressive displays against the Aussies. Certainly the 10/3 that Ladbrokes offer about Pakistan to win the 1st Test at Trent Bridge is too high.

England come into this on the back of a successful 2010 - a World Cup Trophy and 2 Test series wins. Memory reveals however, that those 2 test series were victories over Bangladesh and all other games have been the shorter form, T20 and ODI's. Admittedly, the 1-1 drawn series in South Africa over New Year was fairly impressive but since the Ashes in Autumn 2009, have England really been pushed like the Pakistani's will do to them this summer?

888Sport seem to think that England wont have much of a problem, 5/6 on them to win the opener. The weather looks like it will hold out in the majority, maybe 1 day lost to rain, Sportingbet put 10/3 on the draw.

Ajmal Shahzad has been replaced by Tim Bresnan after suffering an ankle injury but Bresnan is unlikely to play with the presence of Finn, Anderson and Broad in the squad. Swann, England's only spinner, could be the key-attack for the hosts. His new style of offspin earned him a place in Wisden's top-5 cricketers of the year (2009). He is 7/2 at William Hill to be England's top bowler.

Overall, England are fancied too heavily by the bookies. Pakistan will come out blazing and England might fold badly in their 1st innings, in fact Coral's 6/4 about Pakistan having a higher 1st innings seems like a good bet. Whilst Pakistan are far from immune from a collapse themselves, they can come out of the traps in this test and cause a lot of problems and win at Trent Bridge. They may not win the series but they will certainly get 1 on the board. If it's fair to say 1 of 4 tests can be lost to the weather in England, the 2-1 series win for England at 11/2 with Bet365 could provide returns.
