Walsall To Put Terriers In Doghouse

Relegation threatened Walsall could cause Lee Clark’s Huddersfield a few problems at 11/4 (888sport) in League One this weekend.

Struggling Walsall host high-flying Huddersfield this weekend and on paper you’d have to make the promotion-chasing Terriers favourites. However, Lee Clark’s men haven’t exactly torn up trees away from home, where they have lost six of their eleven matches and with the Saddlers having managed a couple of decent away draws under caretaker manager Dean Smith, an upset could be on the cards at the Bescot Stadium.

Smith reckons that he’s seen enough across his 180 minutes in charge, to suggest that Walsall can show a major improvement in the second half of the season and we’re inclined to agree. They look overpriced then at 11/4 with 888Sport against Huddersfield, although the fact that the Saddlers continue to leak goals is a concern and so it could be worth playing a little safer and backing them ‘Draw No Bet’ at 13/8 ().

In recent weeks, Hartlepool have transformed themselves from potential League One strugglers to possible play-off contenders with a series of impressive displays, particularly away from home and they can add another three points to their tally this weekend as they entertain rock-bottom Dagenham.

Mick Wadsworth’s charges are a tasty 5/6 with William Hill to send the Daggers home empty-handed but as ‘Pools don’t defend quite as stoutly on their own turf as they do on the road and the visitors aren’t exactly water tight, a riskier flutter on a home win combined with a match total of more than 2.5 goals (17/10, Partybets), could reap rewards.

Elsewhere, MK Dons strength at stadium:mk lends appeal to the 5/6 Coral mark against them seeing off struggling Tranmere but at a slightly bigger price, a gamble on Plymouth (13/8, bet365) isn’t without appeal. The Pilgrims were slightly unfortunate to go down in midweek at Huddersfield, where they led 2-0 before being reduced to ten men after 15 minutes and at Home Park, Peter Reid’s side are unbeaten in four. They can therefore overcome Oldham, who have lost three in four and were hammered 6-0 at home by Southampton on Tuesday.

Recommended Bets:
Walsall to beat Huddersfield ‘Draw No Bet’ – 13/8 ()
Hartlepool to beat Dagenham and over 2.5 goals in the game – 17/10 (Partybets)
Plymouth to beat Oldham – 13/8 (bet365)
