Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Tuesday; The Last Night in the 2.20 and Tour D’argent in the 3.50 both at Huntingdon. Compare odds and bet.
The SWI Ltd Electrical Contractors Beginners’ Chase looks a competitive six-runner affair this afternoon, but it can pay to take a chance on chasing debutant Tour D’argent (3:50) who remains relatively unexposed after just eight career starts and appeals as the type to do well over fences.
Nicky Henderson’s five-year-old, who won a junior bumper at Newbury back in January of last year, won twice over hurdles around the turn of this year before finishing a gallant second off 131 in a competitive handicap hurdle at Aintree.
The son of Martaline generally races handily, something I like from a novice chaser, and he can make a winning debut over the larger obstacles under AP McCoy.
Earlier on the card, it maybe worth taking a chance on The Last Night (2:20) in the opening handicap hurdle for Emma Lavelle and Dominic Elsworth.
A full-brother to the stables high-class grey Tocca Ferro, the five-year-old ran a race full of promise behind Chester Cup and Northumberland Plate winner Ile De Re on his racecourse debut in January, after which he disappointed twice.
Lavelle still holds him in high regard and, having had a wind-operation, this could be the time to catch him. An opening rating of 109 could underestimate his ability and, given that BetVictor were offering 10/1 and Bet365 9/1 on Monday evening, he is worthy of each-way support.
