RED INDIAN (2.40) turns up a fresh horse for the 32Red Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle at Kempton.

Ben Pauling’s six-year-old was sent off favourite for a Class 3 handicap at Cheltenham’s big November fixture and ran on into third behind useful Coole Cody.

That was only his sixth career start and Red Indian receives plenty of weight from solid yardsticks William Henry, Bags Groove and River Frost, a winner on this card 12 months ago.

WAITING PATIENTLY (2.05) is well named as Malcolm Jefferson has been in no rush to over-extend his stable star.

The seven-year-old has won his last four races, the latest coming at Carlisle in early November when he saw off Belami Des Pictons. There was a 32 lengths gap back to Bayswing, with Thursday’s easy North Yorkshire Grand National winner I Just Know in fourth.

Waiting Patiently also lowered the colours of Politologue at Haydock last January and should possess the necessary scope to master battle-hardened Smad Place, God’s Own and Josses Hill.

ONE FOR BILLY (3.45) has a featherweight in the 32Red.com Handicap Hurdle and has already visited the winner’s enclosure this season, beating subsequent scorer Oxwich Bay at Warwick in November.

Dan Skelton’s gelding was well supported to follow up at Doncaster but was ultimately a bit disappointing in fifth. However, he was only one place behind Thursday’s useful Catterick scorer Crackdeloust, conceding 5lb, and remains only to some improvement.

The Skelton yard will be hoping for a prominent showing from SIR MANGAN (3.35) in the Betfred Classic Handicap Chase at Warwick.

This 3m 5f examination sorts out the wheat from the chafe and Sir Mangan has a touch of class which some of these dour stayers lack.

He ran Beer Goggles to less than a length in a 3m 2f hurdle at Newton Abbot back in October and returned to the larger obstacles at Bangor, beating Actinpieces.

MR WHIPPED (3.00) has looked a bit special and will be hard to overturn in the 2m 5f Grade 2 Novices’ Hurdle.

Nicky Henderson’s gelding made short work of his rivals at Kempton on his stable debut before stepping up to the plate at Newbury, thumping Gowiththeflow and heavily-backed Melrose Boy.
