Wimbledon best betting odds

Live on BBC1 Mon 27 June – Sun 10 July: Bet at the best prices at Wimbledon 2022 Live tennis scores.

Novak Djokovic has won six Wimbledon titles and the Serbian is the odds-on favourite to triumph at the 2022 Championship. Bet365 are one of the bravest with their 5/6 quote and it’s hardly a surprise when you consider that the world number one continues to dominate the men’s game and he was able win three of the four Grand Slam tournaments in 2021.

However, since that Wimbledon success twelve months ago, Djokovic hasn’t been able to add to his twenty Grand Slam titles. This hasn’t exactly been his own fault considering that the nine-time Australian Open was unable to retain his crown in 2022 due to the player’s stance on the COVID-19 vaccination.

Previously to this, Djokovic was beaten in the final of the 2021 US Open when losing to Daniil Medvedev, while his run in the 2022 French Open ended when being defeated by old rival Rafael Nadal at the quarter final stage although Djoker will have been encouraged by the fact that he was able to run the King of Clay relatively close.

Nadal is no stranger to success at SW19 although the second seed’s two Wimbledon gentleman’s singles successes came in 2008 and 2010. Therefore, the big question is whether he can end a twelve-year hiatus and return to the winners’ enclosure on Centre Court, with Betfred prepared to chalk up 15/2 about the Spaniard claiming the spoils.

Nadal did reach the semi-final of Wimbledon in 2018 and 2019, although it has been 2011 since the 36-year-old made the final and perhaps there is better value to be found by backing Carlos Alcaraz. The fifth seed represents the future of men’s tennis at the age of nineteen and perhaps this is the tournament where the Spaniard comes to the fore.

Boylesports have 13/2 available about a player who has only played in the Wimbledon senior tournament on one occasion, with Alcaraz bombing out at the second round stage a year ago although we should expect him to make further progress this time around. A quarter final appearance at the recent French Open illustrated his credentials but how can he cope on grass?

Another interesting contender is Matteo Berrettini and the Italian has been chalked up at 10/1 with William Hill. He will feel as though there is something of a power vacuum at the top of the men’s game right now, with the 26-year-old having navigated his way through to the Wimbledon 2021 final where he found Djokovic too good.

Berrettini will have learnt from that experience and he has since appeared in the quarter finals of the 2021 US Open before making the semi-final stage of the 2022 Australian Open, with the Italian dodging the clay court season with injury although he looked back on track when winning the Stuttgart Open.

While Novak Djokovic is the odds-on favourite to win the 2022 Wimbledon men’s singles title, the women’s singles betting market has a wider open look about it. In truth, any number of players can emerge from the early rounds of the draw and end up claiming a victory during the fortnight of action at SW19.

However, the big question is whether Iga Swiatek is able to claim a maiden Wimbledon title and the Pole looks to be the leading player in the women’s game right now. She has two Grand Slam titles under her belt although both of these were achieved at Roland Garros and the player herself has claimed that clay is her preferred surface.

Swiatek can be backed at 13/8 with William Hill to claim victory in south-west London, with the player having enjoyed a meteoric rise although the fact remains that there has only been one appearance in the ladies singles at Wimbledon and that resulted in a fourth round exit twelve months ago.

There might also be a fly in the ointment by virtue of a shoulder injury which ruled the player out of the recent German Open, with others potentially worth backing as bigger-priced alternatives. Naomi Osaka has been a notable market mover and is effectively the only other player trading at single figure odds.

The Japanese player isn’t absolutely certain to appear at SW19 although Boylesports are one of the few firms to trade a double figure price at 12/1, with Osaka having previously slammed a victory at the Australian Open in both 2019 and 2021. There have also been US Open triumphs in 2018 and 2020 – class is permanent.

Coco Gauff is the eleventh seed in the ladies singles although the American could be about to tame the grass courts over Wimbledon fortnight, with the eighteen-year-old continuing to show glimpses of brilliance and she was able to reach the French Open 2022 final against the odds before losing to Swiatek.

Simona Halep has a heap more experience when it comes to this Grand Slam competition and the Romanian can’t be easily dismissed, with BetVictor offering 14/1 about a player whose sixteenth seeding might be deceptive based on the fact that she was able to win the 2019 title at Wimbledon.

Injuries have been problematic to Halep although she was able to reach the fourth round stage of the recent Australian Open before bowing out early in the French Open. This player has previously demonstrated her class on grass, while Emma Raducanu is going to receive a stack of patriotic support when she takes to the court.

Raducanu has had something of a bumpy ride since winning the 2021 US Open without dropping a set, although she was able to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon last year and appears to be preparing with a view to going deep in the tournament. Bet365 have 16/1 about a British Wimbledon winner.

Similarly, Serena Williams winning Wimbledon would be the fairytale considering the American’s amazing career and the bookies are somewhat wary of a player who can still serve her way to victory against the leading players. Betfred have a best price 20/1 about another Grand Slam win.
