Five to follow on Saturday

Alan Thomson, the former Racing Editor at the Daily Record, puts up five racing tips at York, Sandown and Chester on Saturday. View selections below.

ARRANGE (1.50) has been brought along steadily by Martin Todhunter and the grey should have a major role to play in the outcome of the 18-runner Queen Mother’s Cup at York.

The 1m 4f handicap is always a competitive affair and Arrange wasn’t knocked about when staying on into fourth over course and distance last month. Piecederesistance finished runner-up on that occasion and clearly merits consideration, with most firms offering five places each-way.

At the foot of the weights Star Jasmine could well benefit from a step up in distance. George Boughey’s filly sluiced through the mud to mop up a Bath maiden before losing out in a blanket finish over 1m 1f at Hamilton last time.

Oisin Orr racked up a treble at Wetherby earlier this week and Sir Michael Stoute has clearly acknowledged his talents, handing him the plum ride on REAL DREAM (3.00) in the 1m 6f Sky Bet Race To The Ebor Grand Cup.

Real Dream, successful at Kempton and Ascot last term, returned to action at Newmarket in early May when chasing home Maxi King.

Re-opposing Relentless Voyager was almost four lengths adrift in third and has since boosted that form line by hosing up at Epsom a fortnight ago.

Klondike stayed on well into fourth here last time and has the services of Ryan Moore.

On an action-packed weekend, DUAL IDENTITY (2.05) can go well in Sandown’s one-mile Listen To BetMGM On talkSPORT Handicap.

William Knight’s six-year-old notched his third course victory last month and a 4lb rise isn’t drastic. Dual Identity is usually held up for a late run, so Neil Callan will be bidding to weave his way through late in the day.

Oisin Murphy has been banging in the winners (as usual) and his mount Dancing Magic is sure to attract attention on the back of a solid effort at Chester last month.

With 16 runners declared, five places are available to most customers.

Murphy rides MOUNT TEIDE (3.15) for Andrew Balding in the three-year-old handicap over seven furlongs and the top weight can confirm recent supremacy over Swindon, despite a big turnaround in the weights.

Mount Teide was eased down close home to score by four lengths at Chepstow 15 days ago but the pair should finish much closer together this time, with the William Haggas-trained runner-up enjoying a 12lb swing.

There’s an eight-race card at Chester where course specialist BOX TO BOX (2.45) bids for his fifth Roodee success in the 7f Edinburgh Gin Cannonball Handicap.

Hugo Palmer’s top weight was caught on the line by City Streak here last month and the pair cross swords once again. City Streak has since made no show at Epsom but has bounced back from a poor showing in the past.

Further down the weights recent Newbury winner Hosanna Power is worth noting for the Stoute-Kingscote combo.
