This year’s Derby looks really competitive, with Delacroix the choice of Ryan Moore, who had three colts from the Aidan O’Brien stable to choose from. He’s improving and should get the trip, so has to be respected, whilst Guineas winner Ruling Court is the form pick. I have doubts about his stamina, however, and although he was a big price when winning the Dante, there appeared to be no fluke about the victory of PRIDE OF ARRAS (3:30) who travelled well in behind before quickening clear in impressive fashion. He shapes like the longer trip could bring about further improvement and he gets the vote for Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan, despite the wide draw.
