Bank on 3/1 Blues to edge it

Live on Skysports 1: Sun 13.30 & 16.00: Everton are 6/5 with Stan James to beat QPR in what should be a close Premier League contest.

Everton have made an uncharacteristically strong start to the season and with this afternoon’s opponents QPR currently propping up the rest in the Premier League having picked up only two points from seven matches, David Moyes’ men will be hopeful of racking up another maximum haul.

The hosts are 5/2 via BetVictor to stop the rot by sending the Toffees home empty-handed and it’s 12/5 with bet365 to finish all square at Loftus Road, however, Rangers come into the clash on the back of three straight defeats and so the Blues are rightly considered favourites by Stan James, at 6/5, to secure a victory that will see them stay in or around the top four.

Nevertheless, Mark Hughes’ charges will be desperate to haul themselves off the bottom of the table and they’re sure to make life difficult for the Toffees, who are 3/1 courtesy of bet365 to sneak it by a one-goal margin.

Moyes’ troops have kept only one clean sheet in the league since the opening weekend so it’s fair to assume that both teams will find the net, an outcome Stan James rate at 8/11. BetVictor meanwhile, mark 10/11 against a match total of three or more goals and those are 17/2 (Stan James) to be shared 2-1 in favour of Everton.

Derby day in the North East is bound to bring punters of both persuasions out in force and they’ll find that it’s hosts Sunderland that are narrow favourites to secure the region’s bragging rights, Skybet pricing them at 6/4 to send Newcastle on the short journey home empty-handed.

The Magpies are 2/1 with BetVictor to edge it at the Stadium of Light, as they did in the corresponding fixture last term while Stan James quote 23/10 for the draw and it’s 11/2 courtesy of bet365 to finish one-each, odds that will rightly prove popular given that there’s little to separate the sides ahead of this one.

A frantic, scrappy affair is likely at the Stadium of Light, where Paddy Power quote odds of 7/4 for it to be goalless at the break and Stan James offer 4/5 about a match tally of fewer than three goals.

In a game likely to be low on quality, set pieces could prove crucial and that will play right into the hands of Sunderland front man Steven Fletcher. Strong in the air, the former Wolves striker has already bagged five goals for the Black Cats and he’s an 11/2 chance at BetVictor to fire the opener today.

Recommended Bets:
Everton to beat QPR by one – 3/1 (bet365)
Steven Fletcher to score first – 11/2 (BetVictor)
