Paul Ferguson has four selections from Aintree for us on Friday; Indeevar Bleu in the 1.45, Sober Glory 2.55, Heart Wood 3.30 and Wandering Ego 5.15. | Free Bets |
Off for 105 days, Indeevar Bleu (1:45) is fancied to land the 2m4f William Hill Handicap Hurdle for Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen. A winner over course-and-distance when last seen, he has had a wind-op since and although he was forced to miss the Cheltenham Festival, he remains a horse of some potential and his Newbury second reads very well now.
Runner-up in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, Sober Glory (2:55) should be hard to beat in the Top Novices’ Hurdle for Philip Hobbs & Johnson White and jockey Ben Jones, who is enjoying a stellar season. He ran a stormer at the Festival and a reproduction of that should make him extremely hard to beat.
Heart Wood (3:30) ran out an easy winner of the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham and with Jonbon not being declared for the Melling Chase, Henry de Bromhead’s runner can land back-to-back spring Grade 1s. An intermediate trip suits the eight-year-old ideally and he copes well with decent ground.
Harry Lowes and Melon both make my shortlist for the concluding conditional and amateur jockeys’ handicap hurdle, but marginal preference is for Wandering Ego (5:15) who could round off a day to remember for Olly Murphy and owners Grahame & Diana Whateley. The novice likes nice ground and a sharp track, so should get conditions to his liking here and can be backed each-way, as can Indeevar Bleu.
Friday’s selections:
1:45 Aintree – Indeevar Bleu; 9/2 William Hill
2:55 Aintree – Sober Glory; 4/7 Bet365
3:30 Aintree – Heart Wood; 5/4 Betfred
