Alan Thomson, the former Racing Editor at the Daily Record, puts up three more tips at Ascot and Newmarket on Saturday. View selections below.
On the domestic front this weekend, one of Cowell’s other stable stalwarts, KINGSGATE NATIVE (4.10), holds leading claims in the Listed Rous Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. My selection has raced just twice in the past 12 months but failed by only a short head to land a Group 3 event at Newbury a fortnight ago and is well treated here.
STARBOARD (2.30) is the sole three-year-old in the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes and John Gosden’s gelding should supplement last month’s three-length victory at Longchamp. Starboard steps up another two furlongs here but could well improve again with the greater emphasis on stamina.
At Newmarket, PRUSSIAN (3.20) can resume winning ways after another cracking effort (close third) in the Chester mud last Saturday. Mark Johnston’s filly had earlier hosed up on better ground at Haydock and the stable keeps banging in winners.
