Southampton slipped down to fifth last Saturday following their defeat to Arsenal and they’re set to lose further ground at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea are odds-on at 3/5 (BetVictor) to secure the points.
That’s a touch skinny given the Blues’ Champions League horror show in midweek but they’re capable of bouncing back from their Basel defeat, albeit in a close encounter, and they’re decent value at 11/4 (Ladbrokes) to sneak it by one.
Stan James price Jose Mourinho’s troops at 8/1 to finish on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline but they might have trouble breaking down the resilient Saints rearguard and a better bet could subsequently be Ladbrokes’s 7/1 about the hosts bagging the only goal.
