Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Sunday; Off The Ground in the Southwell 15:00. Compare odds and bet.
The undoubted highlight on Sunday, and in fact of the whole weekend, is Deauville’s Prix Jacques Le Marios, in which Kingman goes in search of a Group 1 four-timer.
Hopefully John Gosden’s Invincible Spirit colt will deliver the goods, despite playing ‘away from home’, but from a punting point of view Off The Ground (3:00) is of interest in the feature at Southwell.
Emma Lavelle’s eight-year-old is hardly ‘chucked in’ off 145, but he is potentially a cut above today’s opposition and looked good when winning twice on decent ground at Doncaster last season. He had earlier bumped into grade 1 winner Annacotty and Cheltenham Festival winner Present View in a very warm novices’ handicap chase at Kempton and remains fairly lightly raced over fences.
Earlier on the card, David Pipe’s Azza should be difficult to beat in the novices’ chase and it is hoped that Falcarragh makes her a betting opportunity. That is unlikely, however, and the runaway Uttoxeter winner is likely to be sent off at prohibitive odds.
