Fergie’s Wednesday double

Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Wednesday; King Of The Night in the Uttoxeter 3.50 and Lyrical Theatre in the 7.30 at Galway. Compare odds and bet.

Though he is getting on a bit now King Of The Night (3:50) goes best fresh and is worth taking a chance on at Uttoxeter on Wednesday.

Malcolm Jefferson’s 10-year-old was a smart hurdler for Paul Nicholls a few years back and actually got within a nose of Sprinter Sacre in a bumper at Ascot.

He relishes decent ground over today’s sort of trip and, though he didn’t win over fences last term, he showed he still retained a decent level of ability and he is very much of interest returning under optimum conditions.

Available at 8-1 overnight (outsider), he is probably one to back to win, with only 2 places available and, if he is anywhere near his best and on a going day, he could outclass this lot, despite top-weight.

Over in Ireland, the concluding bumper at Galway looks an absolute cracker, with Princely Conn probably the pick on all known form.

Thomas Mullins’ five-year-old is hugely respected, but Willie Mullins’ mare Lyrical Theatre (7:30) looked an extremely exciting prospect when bolting up in a weak event on debut and could be up to the task.

The daughter of King’s Theatre could hardly have won any easier on debut and, though this is a big step up in class, she is taken to maintain her 100% record.

Wednesday’s selection:
3:50 Uttoxeter King Of The Night; 8/1 Paddy Power
7:30 Galway Lyrical Theatre; 4/6 Betfair
