Fergie’s Friday racing double

Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Friday; Adventure Seeker in the Doncaster 14:10 and Gm Hopkins 14:50 at Sandown. Compare odds and bet.

The Corsican provided us with a nice winner at Doncaster yesterday and another improving three-year-old is fancied to strike in this afternoon’s competitive Mallard Stakes.

Runner-up in the Melrose Stakes at York last month Adventure Seeker (2:10) has done little wrong this term and looks sure to run another big race, despite a further 6lb rise in the weights.

Ed Vaughan’s Dalakhani colt made up stealthy headway from the back at York and only went down by ¾ of a length at the line.  Clearly at home over this trip, with a long galloping straight to his liking (earlier won at York), he opened up 13-2 with Bet Victor and 6s with a couple of firms.  He looks a sound each-way play at the odds.

Down at Sandown Gm Hopkins (2:50) is fancied to defy a lengthy lay-off for John Gosden and Robert Havlin.

Absent since winning a Nottingham maiden in April, the Dubawi colt remains a youngster of some potential and the form of that success has worked out well, notably thanks to the third home, Roseburg, who won his next three.

Prominent in the Cambridgeshire betting, he was trading at 5/2 (Bet365) this morning to make it two from two for the season.

Friday’s selections:

2:10 Doncaster           Adventure Seeker 9/2 Stan James

2:50 Sandown            Gm Hopkins 5/2 Bet365
