Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Wednesday; Aniknam in the Hexham 13:50. Compare odds and bet.
Hexham stages an above-average novices’ hurdle this afternoon, with course-and-distance winner It’s High Time setting a decent standard.
Lucinda Russell’s six-year-old was still travelling kindly when falling back at this track 21 days ago and, assuming that hasn’t left a mark, he looks sure to go well under Wilson Renwick.
If the tissue prices are to be believed, however, he is taken on with Aniknam (1:50) who was an impressive bumper winner on soft ground at the track back in March.
A month later, Phil Kirby allowed his four-year-old to take his chance in the Grade 1 at Punchestown, a race that has worked out extremely well since. The Nickname gelding finished one place in front of last week’s winner Some Buckle and, in receipt of 7lbs from the likely market leader, he can score under James Reveley.
Dean’s Walk also boasts some useful bumper form, so the race is certainly one to note with the future in mind.
Wednesday’s selection:
1:50 Hexham: Aniknam; 5/2 Skybet
