£25 Thursday double returns £83

Paul Ferguson has two selections on Thursday; Alisier D’Irlande in the Thurles 15:55 and Pacha Du Polder in the Ludlow 16:40. Compare odds and bet.

Formerly a classy handicapper Pacha Du Polder (16:40) made a pleasing debut in the hunter chase sphere when runner-up at Bangor and can go one better at Ludlow on Thursday.

Paul Nicholls’ eight-year-old has plenty of pace and is at his best around this 2m4f trip.  Today’s race will probably put him spot on for a crack at the Fox Hunters’ at Aintree in three weeks time.  He opened up 4-6 with Bet365 on Wednesday evening.

Over in Ireland, expensive purchase Alisier D’Irlande (15:55) makes his debut for Henry De Bromhead, having been moved from the Philip Hobbs yard, by owner Roger Brookhouse.

The Kapgarde gelding was a hugely impressive winner of his sole Irish point last April, after which he changed hands for no less than £300,000.  Slightly disappointing to date, the drop in trip will suit the headstrong five-year-old, who has been found a good opportunity by his new trainer.

Thursday’s selections:

15:55 Thurles: Alisier D’Irlande; evens bet365

16:40 Ludlow: Pacha Du Polder; 4/6 bet365
