£25 Monday double returns £72

Paul Ferguson two selections for us on Monday; Thomas Hobson in the Listowel 2.25 and Besharah in the Windsor 5.55. Compare odds and bet.

William Haggas has his string in tip-top order at present and the Newmarket based trainer can strike in Windsor’s opener on Monday evening, with the once-raced Besharah (5:55).

A winner at Ascot on debut, the Kodiac filly looked a useful prospect and both the second and fourth have since won to frank the form.  She is likely to be short (4-5 overnight), but can take this en route to bigger and better things.

If you fancy a short price double to kick-start the week, formerly smart Flat performer Thomas Hobson (2:25) makes his long-awaited debut over hurdles at Listowel, for Rich Ricci and Willie Mullins (4-6 overnight).

Last seen winning handicaps at Goodwood and Doncaster in October 2013 (off 91 and 97, respectively) when trained by John Gosden, the son of Halling was purchased for £240,000 by his powerful connections and they will be disappointed if he doesn’t make a winning start, despite the lengthy lay-off.

The five-year-old handles soft ground and, despite starting life over hurdles in June, appeals as the type to develop into a very smart novice hurdler.  He looks to have useful bumper performer Solatentif to beat, but Henry De Bromhead’s five-year-old needs to bounce back from a disappointing effort at the Punchestown Festival.  His earlier form entitles him to plenty of respect, however.

Monday’s selections:
2:25 Listowel: Thomas Hobson; 4/6 Paddy Power
5:55 Windsor: Besharah; 8/11 Paddy Power
