£20 Friday double returns £260

Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Friday; Wonder Laish in the Newmarket 3.45 and Copper Kay in the Newton Abbot 5.05. Compare odds and bet.

Newmarket’s Vision Old Rowley Cup looks a cracking contest this afternoon and WONER LAISH (3:45) remains a horse to keep onside, after dead-heating with Duretto last month.

William Haggas’ Halling colt was in front for longer than ideal and was a shade unlucky not to take the Ascot race in his own right.  This afternoon’s bigger field should ensure he can be held on to for longer and the lightly-raced wide-margin Lingfield maiden winner is fancied to complete the hat-trick.

Available at 5-1 overnight with firms are offering ¼ odds to 4 places, it is very much hoped that all 16 runners go to post.  If they do, the selection should be backed each-way in what looks a warm renewal.

Down at Newton Abbot COPPER KAY (5:05) should be difficult to beat in the concluding bumper for Philip Hobbs and Richard Johnson, who provided us with a winner yesterday.

The well-bred Kayf Tara mare defied greenness when winning on debut at Warwick in January, before meeting trouble in running when fourth in a Listed event at Sandown during March.

Despite carrying a penalty and facing a couple of interesting newcomers, the five-year-old sets a fair standard and I expected her to be an odds-on shot, though she was readily available around Evs overnight (opened up odds against on Thursday evening).

Friday’s selections:
3:45 Newmarket: Wonder Laish; 6/1 Ladbrokes
5:05 Newton Abbot: Copper Kay; 10/11 Betfred
