Slade Power completed Britain’s G1 sprint double, adding to his win in the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot with a comfortable success in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket. He wasn’t the only star on display with Richard Hannon’s Estidhkaar running out an impressive winner of the G2 Superlative Stakes. The colt is a half-brother to champion 2-y-o Toormore earns an initial quote of 20/1 with BetVictor for next year’s 2000 Guineas.

Whilst perhaps not of that class, Kevin Ryan’s Gaudy (2.30) could potentially be a very smart juvenile and bids to shed the maiden tag at the third attempt on an excellent days racing at Ayr this afternoon on BetVictor day.

The Dandy Man colt was well supported on debut for a warm maiden at York’s Dante Meeting, finishing a respectable fourth. The selection bettered that on his next start when staying on to finish third last month at Ripon and with the extra furlong likely to bring out even further improvement he gets the nod, likely to get the better of similar twice-raced maidens Intiwin, Chadic and Medrano.

Phil Kirby’s superbly named Run Fat Lass Run (3.00) disappointed last time out however can bounce back when returning to 0-70 company in the Download the BetVictor App Handicap. The filly finished down the field when upped in trip on the Knavesmire but had previously won over a mile at Newcastle and Carlisle respectively. Although raised 7lb for those efforts the 4-y-o remains well treated and can return to winning ways for in-form jockey Phil Makin.

Jim Goldie fields four in the feature BetVictor.com Handicap over six furlongs however Jinky (4.00) can strike for the Linda Perrett stable after two excellent runs at the track on back-to-back cards earlier this month.

The 6-y-o won well over course and distance and nearly followed-up the very next day when dropping back to the minimum trip. Despite finishing second the gelding was running from 6lb out of the handicap and under a 6lb penalty, can claim his third career win at the track.

The closing apprentice handicap doesn’t look the strongest and Richard Fahey’s Rainford Glory (5.30) can take the lucky last, well drawn in stall five. The 4-y-o son of Rock of Gibraltar won his third career start when staying on powerfully to win a warm handicap at Beverley over a mile and a half and although dealt a 6lb rise form the handicapper, will relish the firm ground and the extra furlong.

Being Monday, there’s naturally action from Windsor where Roger Varian bids to extend the stable’s excellent run of form with Rekdhat (8.00) in the fillies’ handicap over a mile. The selection made a winning debut at Kempton before disappointing on her turf beau at Doncaster. She bounced back to form when second last month over seven furlongs and providing she translates her all-weather form to the turf, boasts excellent claims from a 3lb higher mark.

The feature 3-y-o handicap has just six runners but six all with chances and Ganges (8.30) given the nod for James Toller and Andrea Atzeni. The Shamardal colt was highly touted after three encouraging runs in maidens over seven furlongs and built on that further when third on handicap debut upped in trip.  He looked desperately in need of a trip when a beaten favourite last time out over ten furlongs and the step up to a mile and a half can hopefully see him become a maiden no more, at the 6th time of asking.
