BetVictor are paying FIVE PLACES on this afternoon’s Silver and Gold Cup at Ayr, giving punters the best possible in chance in a pair of races that look as difficult as ever to try and find the winner of.

David O’Meara’s Watchable heads the betting as 8/1 favourite for the Ayr Gold Cup after landing a gamble at the Curragh at the weekend and he looks well-treated under a 5lb penalty. The 4-y-o is versatile on any ground and horses his age have won ten of the last nineteen renewals. As his price suggests, he has strong claims.

The Kevin Ryan yard have an excellent record in the race winning three of the last seven renewals with Advance, Our Jonathan and Captain Ramius; the latter one of three runners for the stable in this year’s race. Hamza, ridden by Pat Smullen, runs from the same mark that saw him finish down the field in the race last year and as such a chance is taken on Blaine (3.50) with Ryan’s daughter Amy in the plate. The selection stayed on well under the same jockey to collar Move in Time over five furlongs in a warm race at York’s Ebor meeting last month and should remain competitive from a 4lb higher mark.

Ryan’s excellent record in these sprint handicaps can see he and daughter Amy land a famous double with Bogart (2.40) getting the nod in the Silver. The selection chased home the proverbial ‘group horse in a handicap’ Muthmir in the Portland Handicap last week at Doncaster and should go close from an unrevised mark.

Ger Lyons’ Ainippe (2.05) boasts strong claims in the Firth of Clyde Stakes, a group three contest for fillies’ over six furlongs. She was well-backed for last week’s dramatic Flying Childers Stakes before running as if a miss but can bounce back stepped up in trip and tackling six furlongs for the first time.

There’s excellent racing at Newbury with Henry Candy’s Limato (2.20) touted as a potential superstar and taken to defend his unbeaten record in the Mill Reef Stakes. The selection set an excellent time when winning a novices’ event at Kempton in June and built upon that further when beating subsequent group scorer Cotai Glory over course and distance last month. Limato appears head and shoulders above his peers and is a confident selection with Ryan Moore in the plate and riding for the very first time.

Moore rides serial bridesmaid Hillstar (1.50) in the ‘Arc Trial’ over eleven furlongs with the colt on a run of four straight seconds. Sir Michael Stoute’s 4-y-o has chased home the likes of Brown Panther, Telescope and Cavalryman in group company this season and sets a fair enough standard to belatedly get his head in front for the first time this season.

Mecca’s Angel (3.30) can continue her excellent season in the G3 World Trophy over the flying five furlongs, after bolting up last week at Doncaster. Michael Dods’ filly beat Godolphin’s Reckless Abandon in impressive fashion and continues to progress. She is 11/4 with BetVictor to chalk up a third win of the season and looks excellent value to do so with Paul Hanagan doing the steering.

Ed Dunlop’s Mubaraza (4.15) should go close in the Cesarewitch Trial at Newmarket, having his first run since finishing fourth in the Chester Cup in May. He was a beaten favourite that day when not handling the track as best as most however he has an excellent record at HQ and has the in-form Freddie Tylicki riding for the first time. The selection is currently 16/1 with BetVictor for Cesarewitch itself, with that price likely to shorten further should he return to winning ways this afternoon.
