Europe’s best national leagues now provide up to four teams each for the competition. The tournament begins in July with three qualifying rounds and a play-off round.
The ten successful teams progress to the group stages where they are joined by 22 seeded teams in eight groups of four. The group winners and runners-up progress to the first knockout phase which culminates in the Champions League Final in May.
