Championship Team News

Get the lowdown on all of the team news for the latest round of Championship matches before you put your money on.

Swansea v Crystal Palace
SWANSEA are set to be without captain Garry Monk (knee) for about two months and Jordi Lopez has left the club but Alan Tate returns from suspension and will take the captain’s armband. CRYSTAL PALACE have installed Dougie Freedman as caretaker boss and his first action could be to reinstate fit-again Claude Davis to the team.

Bristol City v Middlesbrough
Loan signing Steven Caulker is likely to line-up for BRISTOL CITY despite injury last weekend and Louis Carey is in contention following a reserve game midweek but Christian Ribeiro (hamstring) is out. Luke Williams (ankle) faces a prolonged period out for BORO, Mickael Tavares (toe) is injured but Marvin Emnes and Jason Steele are fit.

Burnley v QPR
Despite speculation, Stuart Gray will be in charge of BURNLEY on Saturday and apart from Martin Paterson’s absence (thigh), should have a full squad. Jamie Mackie (broken leg) is a big loss for QPR, who now face problems up front after Patrick Agyemang’s (leg) season was ended last week while Shaun Derry is out through suspension.

Coventry v Sheff United
COVENTRY are without the suspended Marlon King and the injured James McPake (back). SHEFF UNITED are buoyed by the loan signings of defender Joe Mattock (West Brom) and midfielder Danny Philliskirk (Chelsea) and there is further good news that Mark Yeates could make a surprise return, easing United’s long-term injury list.

Doncaster v Reading
Matthew Kilgallon has joined DONCASTER on loan due but can welcome back Denis Gueda following suspension and Shelton Meltis may make the bench but Simon Whaley has left the club. Mikele Leigertwood has extended his loan at READING, Andy Griffin will step back into the team for Shaun Cummings while Brynjar Gunnarsson is fit again.

Hull v Barnsley
Aaron Mclean and James Chester will step straight into HULL’s team for the weekend, as might loan signing Brad Guzan, while Robert Koren should be fully fit but Liam Rosenior is suspended. BARNSLEY have no fresh squad issues following their FA Cup game apart from Jamil Adam leaving the club and Luke Potter (knee) is making progress.

Leeds v Scunthorpe
Richard Naylor is nearing a return for LEEDS after featuring for the reserves but Neil Kilkenny is at the Asian Cup with Australia, Amdy Faye has left the club and Lloyd Sam has thigh trouble. SCUNTHORPE could be without Michael O’Connor (knee) while Garry Thompson (groin), Rob Jones and Cliff Byrne (both back) are also doubts.

Millwall v Ipswich
MILLWALL striker Josh McQuoid returns after being cup-tied for the defeat against Birmingham and Alan Dunne is back from suspension. The Lions are also hoping to tie up a deal for fit-again striker Theo Robinson. Paul Jewell takes charge of his first match for IPSWICH but is unlikely to ring the changes after the midweek win over Arsenal.

Norwich v Cardiff
Grant Holt could return to the NORWICH starting line-up and other players set for a recall include John Ruddy, Andrew Crofts, Michael Nelson and Simon Lappin. Craig Bellamy should feature for CARDIFF, Jay Bothroyd (hamstring) is nearing a return, Daniel Drinkwater (thigh) is fit again but Chris Riggot is a doubt with a hamstring problem.

Nott’m Forest v Portsmouth
FOREST striker Marcus Tudgay is back after being cup-tied last week and Paul McKenna hopes to start after missing seven matches with a groin injury and a virus. POMPEY’S Liam Lawrence (hip) should be fit despite limping out of the Brighton defeat, Ricardo Rocha (hamstring) is close to a return and Greg Halford has extended his loan deal.

Preston v Leicester
New boys Nathan Ellington and Amine Linganzi could go straight into the PRESTON squad, Paul Parry (wrist) is back in full training while Iain Hume, Callum Davidson and Wayne Brown are also battling to be fit. LEICESTER will include loan-signing Yakubu in their squad for the trip to Deepdale and Ben Mee is also hoping to make his Foxes debut.

Watford v Derby
WATFORD look set to be without John Eustace (calf) and Don Cowie, who has been laid low with illness after recovering from an Achilles problem. That aside, Malky Mackay has no fresh injury concerns. Russell Anderson is closing in on a return for DERBY but won’t be ready in time while Dean Moxey and Alberto Bueno are in line for recalls.
