Championship Team News

Get the lowdown on all of the team news for the latest round of Championship matches before you put your money on.

Burnley v Crystal Palace
Striker Martin Paterson (thigh) is facing an extended period out for BURNLEY and Chris McCann (knee) is in training again but wont feature. Alex Marrow is back in training for PALACE but will not make this weekend’s game and despite a groin complaint, Julian Speroni is expected to play while Matty Parsons has left on loan.

Coventry v Bristol City
COVENTRY are without suspended Martin Cranie but Clive Platt is available again and Sammy Clingan could be pushing for a start but Ben Turner (knee) is out. Louis Carey (head) is facing a lengthy layoff for BRISTOL CITY and Steven Caulker (hip) is a major doubt so loan signing Jordan Spence is likely to go straight into the team.

Derby v Barnsley
Dean Leacock and Gareth Roberts are available for DERBY and may come in to a changed defence but Stephen Bywater (rib) remains sidelined. BARNSLEY are sweating on the fitness of Michael Doyle (calf), Jacob Mellis and Bobby Hassell (both hamstring) but Jason Shackell (face) should recover in time to play following surgery.

Leeds v Doncaster
Bradley Johnson is back for LEEDS following suspension and will likely make the team while Paul Connolly (hamstring) sits out but there are no other injury issues. DONCASTER striker Billy Sharp (hernia) is very unlikely to feature at Elland Road while Jason Euell (knee) is out for a fortnight and Neil Sullivan (shin) is out.

Norwich v Preston
Simon Lappin (appendix) needs another week out for NORWICH and Leon Barnett (hamstring) is out for the season while Chris Martin (hamstring) also remains sidelined so Aaron Wilbraham will continue up front. PRESTON are without Amine Linganzi (groin) and Callum Davidson (calf) but Chris Brown could feature.

Nott’m Forest v Hull
Paul Konchesky is set to make a timely return for FOREST after news his replacement Joel Lynch (ankle) faces two weeks out while Nathan Tyson (ankle) is still unavailable. HULL could hand new loan signing David Amoo a place on the team sheet and Richard Garcia is in contention but Brad Guzan has left the club.

Portsmouth v Sheff Utd
POMPEY midfielder Liam Lawrence (calf) suffered a setback on Tuesday and will be out for another couple of weeks, Joel Ward and Hayden Mullins also have calf trouble but could make it. Skipper Nick Montgomery (knee) is out for UNITED, Shane Lowry is suspended but Micky Adams adds no new names to his already lengthy injury list.

QPR v Leicester
RANGERS pair Adel Taraabt and Wayne Routledge should recover from illness, Ishmael Miller (hamstring) hopes to return, Akos Buzsaky is pushing to start but Tommy Smith (hamstring) is unlikely to be risked. Patrick van Aanholt is ruled out for LEICESTER with thigh trouble, Bruno Berner could deputise for the on-loan defender.

Reading v Middlesbrough
Andy Griffin’s Achilles injury looks set to rule him out of the ROYALS line-up so Brian McDermott could stick with the team that stunned Everton in the FA Cup in midweek. Rhys Williams is nearing a return for BORO after almost a year out, but this game comes too soon. Jonathan Franks (ankle) and Andrew Davies (hamstring) are doubts.

Scunthorpe v Swansea
Paul Reid’s rib injury will be assessed by SCUNTHORPE but Ian Baraclough’s defensive options are increasing after Rob Jones (sciatica) and Niall Canavan (tendonitis) featured for the reserves. SWANS duo Tommy Butler and Andrea Orlandi are both close to a return from thigh injuries but Garry Monk (knee) is still a couple of weeks away.

Watford v Millwall
WATFORD’S Stephen McGinn misses the rest of the season after knee surgery, Lloyd Doyley (hamstring) is out, John Eustace is suspended but Andreas Weimann and Danny Drinkwater hope to shrug off knocks. MILLWALL trio Jack Smith (thigh), Jimmy Abdou and Shaun Batt (both knee) are sidelined but Josh McQuoid will make the bench.

Cardiff v Ipswich
CARDIFF ‘keeper Tom Heaton (groin) is a doubt so loan-capture Jason Brown goes straight into the squad but Seyi Olofinjana (knee) is out and Aaron Ramsey has returned to Arsenal after his loan spell expired. Colin Healy again misses out for IPSWICH with a stomach muscle tear, Alan Quinn (knee) is back in training but isn’t ready for match action.
