Back This Brace Today

Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Thursday; Champion Court (3.30 Per) and Times Up (4.30 Newm). Compare odds.

As was the case yesterday, Perth again stages the reappearance of an exciting jumper, this time in the shape of Champion Court (3:30) who is fancied to land a competitive novices’ chase on his debut over fences.

Martin Keighley’s six-year-old won a bumper in Ireland before joining his current yard and he made an immediate impact in England, winning a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Cheltenham last November on his debut over timber.

On his third and final start over the smaller obstacles, the selection finished a highly creditable fourth to Bobs Worth in the Albert Bartlett at the festival in March and he has always been regarded as a high-class chaser waiting to happen.

At Newmarket Times Up (4:30) is expected to relish the step up to 2m and can land the Listed Jockey Club Rose Bowl.

John Dunlop’s five-year-old won at this level at York earlier in the year and has since shaped well in defeat, most recently when third in a hot renewal of the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury.

The course winner was available at 3/1 with VC on Wednesday evening.

Thursday’s selections:
3:30 Perth Champion Court
4:30 Newmarket Times Up
