31/20 For First Half Goal Fest

Live on ESPN: Sat 12.30: As Kilmarnock welcome Celtic, Sportingbet chalk up 31/20 against 2 or more goals in the 1st half.

This weekend’s SPL kicks-off with Kilmarnock hosting Celtic in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off where the Bhoys are unsurprisingly installed as Betdaq’s 1.4 (2/5) favourites to keep tabs on Rangers.

Mid-table Killie will need to improve a record of four league games without a win if defying their 8/1 underdog status with Betfred. But if even if they fail to record victory, they should find the net against Celtic once more, as they did in 10 of their last 13 home games against the men in green and white. Therefore, 4/5 about both sides striking catches the eye, as does Sportingbet’s 31/20 about the first half witnessing two goals or more.

Rangers look to have a more straightforward task in recording a maximum haul when hosting St Mirren later on in the day. While odds of 1/5 (Partybets) for a predictable Gers’ victory will not pay for a winter holiday, bet365’ 10/11 for the hosts scoring three time or more could be popular.

At the other end of the SPL, Scott Vernon’s superb hat-trick a fortnight ago was just the boost Aberdeen needed to kick-start their season, and the Dons will now be eager to get at Dundee United on Saturday following a refreshing break.

The additional good news is that United won just one of their four away games this term, hence Totesport’s 7/4 price for them to make it two at Pittodrie, and despite the Dons not beating their rivals in three attempts last season, they are still Stan James’ 6/4 favourites to secure maximum points for a second consecutive time at home.

Inverness’ last victory a fortnight ago may have helped swell confidence, but they need to put in another solid effort this weekend if looking to claw their way off the bottom of the SPL. Awaiting them in their quest to move upwards is St Johnstone, a team they defeated in their last two clashes earlier this year.

Despite such a glowing record, however, it is the hosts who are the bookies’ evens favourites, though such a view on the outcome offers tremendous value about Caley recording a third straight win over their opponents at Boylesports’ 16/5. Punters that also envisage a repeat of their last two victories ‘to nil’ against St Johnstone can acquire 5/1 with bet365, where a narrow 1-0 away win is marked at 6/1 (Ladbrokes). A one-goal winning margin is also 9/2 (Paddy Power).

Elsewhere, third-placed Motherwell are locked with Hibernian at Betfred’s 13/8 for their close-looking encounter at Easter Road where a draw shines at Skybet’s 23/10, while Hearts are a standout 21/20 via Boylesports to win at a fading Dunfermline, who are now winless in their last five league outings following a bright start.
