Rafa Benitez’s men were leading at Anfield until the 97th minute when Luis Suarez popped up with a leveller having earlier been fortunate to avoid being sent off for biting Branislav Ivanovic.
The result leaves the Blues in fourth spot but just one point above fifth-placed Tottenham, who are now 3/4 at Ladbrokes to finish in the Champions League places having come from behind to beat Manchester City.
Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Fulham means the Gunners are 4/11 in the same market while Ladbrokes are also betting on the future of Luis Suarez following his latest indiscretion.
The Uruguayan is 1/6 to still be a Liverpool player at the end of the summer transfer window and 7/2 to be shown the Anfield exit door.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told Betrescue: “Before the match Chelsea looked home and dry for a Top 4 finish but the late goal could well cost them Champions League football next year.”
She added: “We’re not convinced that the writing’s on the wall for Suarez at this stage.”
