A fairly ordinary day’s action on Tuesday, with the most interesting runners at Towcester’s evening meeting, with Twelve Roses being the first in the opening maiden hurdle.
He looked useful when winning a Chepstow bumper and also shaped with promise on his hurdles debut at Wincanton in October. Off for more than six months, he was turned over at odds on here last month and, while the step back up in trip will help, he faces a couple of useful opponents here so is best watched.
Thanks For Coming is of interest in the novices’ chase, but his jumping went on pot as last season went on and needs to bounce back to the form he showed earlier in the campaign. If he does that, Nicky Henderson’s seven-year-old sets a fair standard and he jumped around here on his chase debut, when just touched off by Creekside.
The third and final horse to note on the card is Brunton Blue (8:35) and, as she is the one who arrives here at the top of her game, she is the day’s selection in the concluding mares’ handicap hurdle.
After victories at Market Rasen and Fakenham recently, Lucy Wadham’s eight-year-old arrives here on a hat-trick and looks capable of shrugging off another 8lb rise. The in-form mare was trading at 5/4 with Bet Victor and Bet365 last night.
