Roberto Martinez has been cut to just 2/5 by Ladbrokes to leave Wigan after he guided the Latics to FA Cup glory at Wembley.
Wigan had been the firm’s 15/2 outsiders on the day but a late Ben Watson header gave them a 1-0 victory over Manchester City and secured the club’s first trophy in their 81-year history.
However, the triumph has apparently increased the likelihood that manager Martinez will leave the club, Ladbrokes pushing the Spaniard out to 7/4 to still be at the DW Stadium next season and also cutting his odds to join Everton to 7/4.
The Latics are also now 1/4 at Ladbrokes to be relegated from the Premier League and the firm has installed them as 9/2 favourites to win the Championship.
The upset was also great news for the Ladbrokes customers who had correct score, first player to score and scorecast bets refunded as free bets following Manchester City’s failure to lift the cup.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes told Betrescue: “It was an incredibly exciting end to the cup final for our customers. Ultimate underdogs Wigan have defied the odds to the delight of their backers and all of those who got free bet refunds.”
