David Moyes is 5/6 with Ladbrokes to win a trophy in his first season at Man Utd after he was confirmed as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor.
The Scot, who will leave Everton at the end of the season, has yet to land any silverware but he’s 15/8 (Ladbrokes) to remedy that by guiding United to a successful Premier League title defence, although noisy neighbours Manchester City are the 13/8 favourites in that market.
Ladbrokes also offer 4/6 that Moyes will go back to Goodison Park over the summer to raid his former club for left-back Leighton Baines and it’s 2/1 that Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Old Trafford.
Elsewhere, Wayne Rooney’s future is shrouded in uncertainty and he’s been well backed to join Newcastle, Ladbrokes cutting the England man from 20/1 to 6/1 to link up with Alan Pardew after a flurry of bets.
Meanwhile, at 6/4 Wigan’s Roberto Martinez heads Ladbrokes’ market to replace Moyes at the Toffees, with Neil Lennon next at 4/1.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told Betrescue: “The odds suggest Moyes will finally get his hands on a piece of silverware once he takes to the helm at Old Trafford. Unfortunately for Evertonians it looks like he’ll be taking some of his best players with him across the M62.”
