Malcolm Jefferson’s horses continue to run well and the Norton based trainer saddles an interesting runner in the opener at Perth on Wednesday, in the shape of Petapenko (2:10).
The five-year-old has been off the track since finishing a promising third behind Big River in a maiden hurdle at Kelso in October, presumably being kept away from winter ground, having earlier won his bumper on good-to-firm.
The step up in trip should suit and, while this looks a competitive little affair, he arrives here fresher than most and with his stable in good form.
