Rather like yesterday’s selection, Gunfleet (5:05) has to be forgiven a disappointing effort last time (pulled-up in a Wincanton handicap chase in mid-January) but he is of interest at Ascot, now he reverts to hurdles.
The winner of his last two starts over the smaller obstacles last season, he probably should have won at Exeter on his chase debut in November, after which he failed to progress. Emma Lavelle is presumably protecting his novice status for next season, but he could easily return to form here under the talented Patrick Cowley.
