SONG FOR SOMEONE (2.25) looks the answer to an interesting Betway Kingwell Hurdle at Kempton.

The race has been re-arranged following Wincanton’s washout last Saturday and Song For Someone ran a cracker at Ascot last month when chasing home Thomas Darby (pair clear). That came over 2m 3f but Song For Someone is just as effective at this minimum trip, producing a sterling performance (third) when trying to concede 20lb to Mack The Man at Sandown in early December.

Tom Symonds would appear to have an improving five-year-old on his hands and Song For Someone is preferred to likely favourite Ch’tibello, last season’s County Hurdle victor at Cheltenham. Alan King’s Elgin returns to action for the first time in 589 days but isn’t dismissed lightly should a wind operation prove beneficial. Diego Du Charmil has his first start over hurdles in almost three years but this quirky individual is talented on his day.

The Adonis Juvenile Hurdle often throws up JCB Triumph Hurdle pointers and the betting suggests this is best left to the ex-French pair SOLO (1.50) and Fujimoto Flyer. Solo has his first outing for Paul Nicholls and, like his market rival, was last seen scoring at Auteuil.

WEST CORK (3.02) may represent a bit of value in the Sky Bet Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle. Dan Skelton’s six-year-old is a dual Huntingdon winner which proves his effectiveness going right-handed. He dished out a thumping defeat to long odds-on Mister Coffey last month and can serve it up to short-price favourite Buzz. Nicky Henderson’s grey is undefeated in two starts, having a neck to spare over Glory And Fortune at Doncaster 16 days ago, and should be involved along with easy dual Plumpton scorer Highway One O Two.

The Betway Handicap Chase over three miles is very open, with last year’s runner-up DOUBLE SHUFFLE (3.35) trading at decent odds. He had re-opposing Adrien Du Pont (third), Romain De Senam (fourth) and Talkischeap (fifth) behind and has produced his best form at Kempton in the past. The sponsors go a generous 10-1, four places each-way. Paul Nicholls fields four runners, with his popular Black Corton heading the weights.

At Lingfield, BANGKOK (3.15) and Dubai Warrior go head-to-head in the Betway Winter Derby, a Group 3 contest over 1m 2f, with the former winning a narrow vote.

Andrew Balding’s colt looked an all-weather natural here three weeks when routing Court House more than four lengths in the trial and Silvestre De Sousa’s mount is trading odds-on. John Gosden and Frankie Dettori teamed up successfully with hugely-impressive Wissahickon 12 months ago and Dubai Warrior is a serious rival following his own demolition of Court House over course and distance before Christmas.
