Paul Ferguson has three selections for us on Saturday; Salvator in the 12.45, Hold The Serve 1.20 and Bossman Jack 1.55 all at Aintree. | Free Bets |
Grand National day gets underway with the Maghull Novices’ Chase, in which Salvator Mundi (12:45) should be too good for the opposition, having won the Top Novices’ Hurdle at this fixture last year.
The step up to 3m should suit Hold The Serve (1:20) who is fancied to land the handicap hurdle for Olly Murphy. He completed the hat-trick on handicap debut at Kempton and won in the manner of an improving young hurdler.
The top of the market looks strong in the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle and after a productive first day for the stable, Gordon Elliott’s Ballyfad could easily bounce back and provide the trainer with a fifth straight win in the Grade 1. His Irish form is strong. However, marginal preference is for Bossman Jack (1:55) who finished in front of him at Cheltenham and would have gone much closer but for an error at the final flight. He travels well so should be well suited to the track at Aintree.
Saturday’s selections:
12:45 Aintree – Salvator Mundi; 5/6 Betfred
1:20 Aintree – Hold The Serve; 6/1 William Hill
1:55 Aintree – Bossman Jack; 11/4 William Hill
